You can use this check list to prompt some introspective thinking about your own communication. You can also use it to compare and contrast how different people communicate, and the impact of their communication on those involved in the meeting.
The questions are broken down into sections that correspond to the Meeting Comms cards in the deck. Refer back to the cards to find out a little more about your own responses, or how you have assessed the communication of others that you meet with.
Communication Types
- When you speak are you clear and concise?
- Do you use jargon, acronyms, idioms, colloquialisms, and filler words?
- When you write do you keep it plain and simple?
- Do you check for spelling and grammar?
- Do you consider the tone of your written communications?
- How often do you use emojis and reactions in your communications?
- Are you aware of your non-verbal cues, can you control your facial expressions and body language?
- Do you include visual imagery in your communications to reduce text and simplify messages?
